Total Ministry - "Out"
Connecting with Our Community and Beyond
1. Homebound Visitors

Our homebound Faith family members need fellowship brought directly to their doors. Often missing their friends and families, these special congregants are unable to attend worship services with us. If you have a kind heart, a generous spirit, and would like to bring joy to someone in need, consider joining this special ministry team.

2. Card Ministry

This group meets once a month to share the kindness of God’s heart with Faith congregants. Team members send cards to people to celebrate life events, encourage them on their journeys, cheer them up, or to simply let them know someone is praying for them. A small word of encouragement goes a long way – join this group and share the love!

3. Doorbell Dinners

The Prairie Council on Aging is a local agency dedicated to improving the lives of residents that are sixty years of age and older. Their mission is to allow these people to stay in their homes, living independently, for as long as possible. To help fulfill that mission, they partner with many groups in the area, including Faith Lutheran, to provide meals to seniors that need them. Help fight hunger (and combat loneliness) by joining this team.

4. Friends from Faith

On the last Sunday of each month, this team prepares a table outside the sanctuary where worship attendees can select cards to mail to anyone of their choice. Cards and stamps are provided, and the group also helps mail the cards deposited in the box.

5. Funeral Support Team

This team strives to provide compassionate and loving support for funerals held at Faith. Tasks can include greeting mourners at the door, guiding them to the sanctuary or a receiving line, or providing delicious food that provides comfort to grieving families and friends.

6. Food Center

Our church accepts food and monetary donations on behalf of the Jacksonville Illinois Food Center. Clients of the center are offered a seven-day supply of staple food items, as well as bakery items and fresh vegetables when available. Originally designed for emergency food relief, there are currently over 5,000 food insecure people living in Morgan County. Members of this team coordinate activities with the Food Center and deliver our donations on a monthly basis.

7. Prayer Chain

Sometimes our Faith family members need extra prayers and this group is here to assist. This ministry team coordinates prayers requests and passes them on to other members as the needs arise. They are truly “linked” together through the power of prayer. Join this group and commit to praying for your fellow congregants.

8. Fair Trade Goods

Fair trade products are produced and traded in a way that respects the rights and well-being of farmers, workers, and the environment. We currently sell coffee, tea, chocolate, and nuts. If you are interested in learning more about this ministry and helping to promote sales in our congregation and community, consider this team.

9. Prayer Shawls

If you know how to crochet, knit, or would like to learn, join this team as they create beautiful prayer shawls which they give out to bless others who need them.

10. Year End Giving

Would you be interested in joining a team that meets only ONCE a year? The time commitment may be small, but the impact of this ministry team is HUGE. Each year, Faith gives monetarily to worthy organizations and this team recommends how those funds are distributed.

11. H.U.G.S. for Africa

Hearts United in God’s Service, Inc. is a non-profit organization that partners with the Pillars of Africa Children’s Ministry. Their specific mission is to improve the lives of underprivileged youth in Manyangwa, Uganda. They provide monetary, material, and prayerful support to meet the needs of the children they serve. If you have a giving heart, look for opportunities to serve on this ministry team.
